About Kevin OBrien
Born in 50's, first interested in ancient cultures, ancient migrations, archaeology Influenced by Van Gogh (and Abstract Expressionism), Klee, Dubuffet, surrealism, dada, pop art, Rauschenberg, jimi hendrix and high-energy jazz (e.g., Coltrane). I try to use materials which I consider to represent the basic building blocks of industrial culture, and incorporate them into my paintings. I use high-energy in my paintings to represent life's real energy. In my three dimensional work, I try to use my own crude carpentry to build the infrastructure.
