Artist's Description
This is a private rendition of field of grass behind a stone wall. I took photographs of the scene and cut the photographs into shapes that fit the composition, then drew on the photographs to patternize them, then applied them to the surface. I found a really inspiring piece of corrugated cardboard that reminded me of the stone wall at the scene. This is an emotionally fruaght scene for me, because I had a very powerful experience when I saw Van Gogh's original in person, because of what this painting has meant at times thorugh my life, and because of what it means now. Though this scene I am attempting to transcend. This is a realistic rendition, with real pieces of grass attached
About Kevin OBrien
Born in 50's, first interested in ancient cultures, ancient migrations, archaeology Influenced by Van Gogh (and Abstract Expressionism), Klee, Dubuffet, surrealism, dada, pop art, Rauschenberg, jimi hendrix and high-energy jazz (e.g., Coltrane).
